Everything You Need to Know About Downtown Sarasota

This is your all-access guide to Sarasota Florida! Downtown Sarasota is a gorgeous setting for living, working, and enjoying the lifestyle of the Gulf Coast.

From our walkability to our cultural amenities to our scenic shoreline and Sarasota Bay, Downtown Sarasota offers convenience and amenity that makes living here so special. In my latest video tour, I'm getting the inside scoop from Sarasota's leading business people and arts leaders.

One of the things that makes Sarasota such an appealing place to call home is our year-round social and arts calendar. Unlike a lot of Florida communities, we have both a second-home population and a large (and growing!) year-round residential population that makes every month of the year vibrant.

The incredible arts scene in Sarasota has earned us a reputation and a cultural hub where residents enjoy theatre, opera, ballet, musical performances, and fine arts exhibits. Downtown Sarasota is the heart of many of these organizations, including Urbanite, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, the opera, and quite a few impressive galleries and venues that feature live performances.

Our culinary options are cosmopolitan as well, with upscale dining and cocktails alongside casual local fare. All offer an authentic taste of Sarasota's way of life! Part of what makes the Downtown area so great is the long-term engagement and leadership of residents and business owners who are committed to uplifting city's future through deliberate planning and improvement efforts. In fact, the Downtown Improvement District has welcomed community engagement to plan for long-term transformation of some of our most streets and buildings.

Whether you are new to Sarasota, an old-timer, or considering a visit or a move, there's a lot of news to know about our Downtown. Downtown Sarasota is going through constant change as new buildings break ground and new projects advance, like the beloved Bay Park and expansion of the Quay and Rosemary District.
